Earthworks and farm contractors in Arapuni
Races and crossings on the dairy farms along the river terraces, and pads, driveways and retaining for the properties around Lake Arapuni. Forty minutes from our Whakamaru yard.

Arapuni is a hydro village on the Waikato River, with dairy farms on the terraces above the lake and a steady trickle of new builds and holiday places around the water. We work the same river a few dams upstream, so this is familiar country.
River terraces, dairy farms and lake properties
The work around Arapuni is a mix of farm earthworks on the terraces and residential work on the sections around the lake and the village. The river and the terraces shape both.
Farm earthworks
Races, tracks, crossings and feed pads on the dairy farms between Arapuni, Putāruru and Te Awamutu.
Retaining walls
Timber pole and concrete retaining on the terraced sections above the river, with the drainage built in behind so the wall stays put.
House pads and driveways
Building platforms and driveways for new builds and holiday homes around the lake and the village, built to the engineer's level.
Working around Arapuni
Arapuni was built for the dam, and the village and the farms around it sit on the terraces the Waikato River cut over thousands of years. Terraces mean steps in the ground, and steps in the ground mean retaining walls, batters and drainage on almost every residential job.
The soils are river gravels and sands on the terraces with volcanic ash over the top. They drain well and hold a batter reasonably, but a retaining wall still fails the same way here as anywhere else: water building up behind it. So every wall we build gets drainage coil, free draining backfill and an outlet that actually runs.
Arapuni is in the South Waikato District, so consents go through South Waikato District Council, and anything close to the lake or the river comes under Waikato Regional Council rules as well.
- Retaining walls and batters on terraced sections above the lake
- House pads, driveways and site works for new builds and holiday homes
- Races, crossings and feed pads on the dairy farms along the terraces
- Culverts and drainage on wet ground

What we take on
Civil construction is the core of it. Around that we do the earthworks, drainage and farm work that keeps a site moving.
Questions we get from around here
The things people around Arapuni ask us before a job starts.
Generally a wall under 1.5 metres that is not holding up a building or a driveway does not, but height, surcharge and your council are the final word. We will tell you straight if your wall needs an engineer and a consent.
Usually. We run a 3 tonne machine for tight access as well as the bigger excavators, so most terrace sections are workable. We will look at the access before we quote.
Yes. Milking, the tanker and calving come first, and we plan the job around them.
